Shetland Aerogenerators Ltd has pioneered the development of renewable energy in Shetland. Our company builds, owns and operates renewable energy and BESS sites.
The business was established in 1992 by two families and moved to a development stage in 1998.
For more than three decades we have built up knowledge and experience now available to customers. We have specialist, team-lead, and general service technicians. We provide statutory inspection services and PPE inspections. We offer Project Management for development and operations on energy sites. Our experienced electrical and engineering workforce can provide everything from ad-hoc assistance, fault response and analysis to long-term turnkey solutions for all kinds of projects.
There is growing demand for renewable energy but there are severe technical constraints in Shetland. The company has new projects in various stages of pipeline.

Shetland Aerogenerators Ltd has been a key participant in Shetland Net Zero Energy Forum since the relaunch in 2020 and also in the predecessor Shetland Renewable Energy Forum going back to initiation in 2005. Shetland Aerogenerators Chief Executive David Thomson has served as Chair of both versions of the Forum.
