Forum Members Nominated for Prestegious Awards

The Renewable Energy Forum would like to congratulate Hjaltland Housing Association, and the Pure Energy Centre, both of which have been nominated for this year’s Scottish Renewables Green Energy Awards, 2011.

Hjaltland Housing have been nominated in the ‘Community’ category for their role in conducting the successful Northern Isles New Energy Solutions (NINES) smart grid pilot project. This has paved the way for the continued development of NINES, which will demonstrate smart grid technology in Shetland, with a view to implementing this across the United Kingdom in coming years. The new technology will provide much more efficient electric heating systems to domestic homes, combined with intelligent charging systems which will enable more effective grid balancing – allowing more intermittent renewable energy generators to generate stably on the local distribution network.

Pure Energy Centre have been nominated in the ‘Innovation’ category, for offering their expertise in the Isle of Wight’s hydrogen energy storage project.

We wish them both good luck, with the awards ceremony taking place on at the newly reopened National Museum of Scotland, in Edinburgh on the 1st of December.
